Boookclub

Welcome to the Speeed book club.

This is very much a work in progress. It'll keep evolving as we go.
The whole reason it exists: we wanted to start reading again. Real books. Like a lot of guys, we'd kinda fallen off, and figured we probably weren't the only ones. Doing it as a group makes it more fun and gives everyone --us included-- a little structure to actually stick with it. Honestly this is as much about keeping ourselves accountable as anything. Turns out an hour with a book feels better than the same hour scrolling. Who knew.

We're aiming for roughly a book a month. Sometimes life happens and we fall off the pace, but we're trying!

We also have a big Discord --it's not just for the book club, it's for everything Speeed-- but there's several dedicated bookclub channels with deeper discussion about whatever we're currently reading, the club at large, and ongoing threads about past books too. You don't have to join the discord be part of the book club. You can just read along quietly and that's totally legit. But if you want in on the conversation, click the button below.

Under that you'll find everything we've read so far, with a little something on each one. Click any cover for more.

Alright. Go read.

What We're Reading Now:

The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder

David Grann

In 1741, a British warship called the Wager wrecked off a desolate island in Patagonia hunting a Spanish treasure galleon. What happened next, starvation, mutiny, murder, and two competing crews limping back to England months apart with wildly different stories about who the villains were, is one of the wildest true survival tales ever recorded. David Grann (Killers of the Flower Moon, The Lost City of Z) is maybe the best nonfiction storyteller working right now, and he writes this like a thriller. The New York Times called it "a tour de force of narrative nonfiction." We picked it because its sick to read and incredible adventure story --that is REAL. A guy actually lived through this and somehow came back to tell. Scorsese is already adapting it with DiCaprio. Read it before the movie!
